Valentine’s Day. You either love it or you hate it, but regardless, it is what you make it.
For most people, Valentine’s Day is full of flowers, chocolates, candle-light dinners, romance, presents, cards, and stuffed animals. All of which are great and all, but this year my Valentine and I decided to beat the cliché and promised to spend no money on material possessions at all. Instead, we decided to spend the day with each other, doing something fun and different. In turn, this was the best Valentine’s Day I’ve ever had! This year, we spent the day skiing at Perfect North Slopes in Indiana.
Now, this girl is an avid skier. I was thrown in ski school at a young age and have been fortunate enough to ski in a lot of really cool places inside and out of the U.S. That being said, for being located in a state that isn’t exactly famous for their ski terrane, the runs weren’t too shabby at all. I mean, the place had 10 fun trails, snow tubing, sledding, and a lodge with food and phenomenal hot chocolate!
For a quick 3 hour drive, Perfect North was absolutely worth the money spent. Seventy-two dollars for 7 hours worth of a lift ticket and ski rentals, at a place close enough to make a day-trip out of is not a bad deal at all. Also, it made for a perfect Valentine’s Day.
Waking up at 6:30 (on a precious weekend morning), spending 6 hours in the car and 7 on the slopes laughing, having fun, and spending uninterrupted time with my guy was way better than a teddy-bear and chocolates. I am completely blessed to have a man in my life who continually gives me the gift of his undivided attention–and not only on Valentine’s Day. After all, that is what girls want more than anything. (I can’t write a Valentine’s Day blog and not brag a little bit, now can I?)
Next year we are absolutely skipping out on the fancy dinner reservations to make more memories together. You only get so many Valentine’s Days, and you can’t take anything but memories with you when you go; so in my book, A Perfect Valentine at Perfect North was without a doubt the way to go!
