Just kidding. I’m not a fan of that at all– it’s nearly impossible to change everything about yourself, down to your core, because of a new year. Also, there’s no reason to! You’re Already Amazing! (click to check the new read I’ve recently dove into, although that’s not the point of this blogpost.) So while 2017 will still have the same old Bailie, there are a lot of changes going on in my life and I figured my blog should grow alongside it.
If you haven’t noticed, “The Narrow Gate” is now “Days by Bay.”
If you’ve been around since the beginning, you know that “Days by Bay” started in 2015 as a lifestyle blog titled “The Narrow Gate;” a creative outlet built for me to explore and express my journey as a college student trying to seek out The Narrow Gate (give Matthew 7:13 & 14 a read). Fast forward to right now, January 2017, and I’ve got some major changes going on in my life. So I figured, why not change the blog too? Change is good. Growing is good.
For starters, I’m no longer a college student! I graduated a semester early this past December and am totally loving my decision to do so. This whole transition into the “real world” (or so they call it) has been pretty fun. I’ve been up to a lot (besides blogging, as you can tell) since this fall.
Since the college graduation? Can you say ‘new roomies?!’ Well, actually, they’re old roomies. Okay, they’re my parents. I moved back in with Mom and Dad. Hey, no shame! I’m saving money and I get to soak in these next several months living with my parents again before June. Twenty-somethings, this is acceptable only as long as you don’t get too comfortable and stay for too long. Staying too long would be bad, although I do think I could live with my parents forever (if only that wasn’t totally weird). For right now, though, I’m loving it. I’ve got great parents – shout out to those two for letting me live rent free and buying my groceries!
Other than that? I hear wedding bells! Our wedding is now less than 5 months away and the whole team has been in serious wedding planning mode for a while now. You guys, the to-do list has not stopped growing and I’m convinced it won’t stop until I walk down the aisle. I’m not at all complaining though, this whole experience is super fun. Stay tuned for a recap if you’re interested in all the wedding-planning business!
And finally… Channeling my inner Joanna Gaines – check. Slade and I have been playing the house hunt game non-stop for about a month and finally, we found our home. We are so incredibly happy and even more so blessed with what we’ve found. It also helps that I just so happen to know the best real estate agent in Nashville – so if you need a guy, let me introduce you to my Dad! March 2017 will be here before we know it and so will some DIY project posts!
Despite everything we have going on in life, I’m still starting to believe you actually have more free time in your life as a college graduate than as a college student. Hopefully this means I’ll be able to post more frequently (which, I’m sure you were all wondering). Fingers crossed, am I right?
