Memorial Day Weekend 2018 was spent in the Windy City! My second visit to Chicago in 2018 already, and I totally wouldn’t be opposed to going back again. Chicago is fantastic, y’all! The streets are clean, the architecture is noteworthy, the people are friendly, and the size is big enough to love but small enough as to not feel overwhelming.
Slade and I had so much fun spending time with some of our college friends. We ate our way through the city and danced our way through the nights. My favorite day was spent at and around Navy Pier, where we rented a buggy and drove along the lakeshore. We thought we looked pretty cool on it!
Of course I had to take the time and visit some properties – which has become one of my favorite parts of my job. I found two gems in this concrete jungle; two hotels with completely different personalities but both equally outstanding.
I first paid a visit to The W Lakeshore. Are you familiar with The W’s brand? Absolutely chic and luxurious, in the most fun way. There are two W properties in Chicago, but I wanted to be sure and check out the Lakeshore – specifically because I think it’s location is top notch. Snuggled right up to the lake and beach (hence the name, The W Lakeshore), and a quick Uber away from fun nightlife and great shopping, The W really is a prime location. While I did see plenty of families checking in, I also saw lots of 20 and 30-somethings. For me, at my age, the place screamed bachelor/bachelorette parties. Fellas, if you’re reading this, they have one suite with a foosball table centered in the living room – and I bet I could make sure you get that one suite for your next guys trip.
My second visit was to The Sofitel Magnificent Mile, one of eight Virtuoso Properties in Chicago. The Sofitel is right around the corner from high end shopping and near all kinds of up-scale restaurant options. My favorite part about The Sofitel? The fact that it is a French inspired hotel – and their rooms are as beautiful as you might imagine they’d be. Sofitel also has a restaurant on site that makes their own cheese and fresh pastries daily. Take it from me, those pastries and that cheese alone are reason enough to pay The Sofitel a visit. I would know, because I made sure to try every type of cheese and pastry they had to offer – you know, I have to be thorough in my research. Knowledge is power! If you’re looking to visit Chicago on business, a girls weekend, or a family trip, I would confidently recommend Sofitel. I can promise you, you wouldn’t be disappointed! Plus, we could set you up with these Virtuoso Amenities!
Also, this summer and fall they’re even running a special on Riverboat Architectural Tours for Virtuoso clients. Ask me more about that if you’re interested!
Until next time, Chicago!!
